Tonight we're bringing Mia to her first Cardinals game!  Let's hope they can bring home a winner!

A couple months ago Mia went with us to the Blues game, too.  Where we go, she goes... and we love it!

Now that Mia is rolling like a champ, she's ready for bigger and better things!  At least, she wants to be!  Mia got a cute butterfly toy for Christmas that cruises along the ground and flaps its wings and she just loves it.  Just like at the Butterfly house, she likes to grab it and crush its wings.  The idea is that she will crawl after it, and you can tell she really wants to.  Sometimes I think I can see the wheels turning in her mind, trying to figure out how to move her body forward to get it.  I feel terrible when she gets frustrated, at which point I will nudge her forward by pushing on the bottoms of her feet.  She'll get it, though.

Mia is also sitting up almost completely independently.  Last night at Abby's birthday party she sat and played Barbies with Allison and Aunt Dawn for quite awhile.  When we're at home and she's leaning against a pillow she will pull herself up and play with anything she can get her hands on.  She also loves her new bigger-girl carseat because now she can sit up and watch the world go by.  I guess she doesn't get carsick sitting backwards... I think I would!

Let's see... what else?  She doesn't like green beans and carrots, but loves peas and sweet potatoes!  She's getting the hang of drinking from a regular cup, and the sippy cup thing is still tricky for her.  Mia babbles all kinds of sounds throughout the day, even mixing her sounds up so it sounds like another language.  She can give hugs and kisses, and even high-fives!  And she gets really excited when it's time for her bath and just loves to splash and splash!  I can't wait until she sits up really well so we can use her blow-up ducky bath that my cousins Mike and Angie gave her.  Mia's cousin, Lauren, just loved hers!

Lastly, Mia seems to enjoy going places with us.  We enjoy eating out with her since she sits really well in the highchair... for now, at least!  She's really easy to bring just about anywhere and it's fun to watch her 'soak it all in'.

P.S.  We have to start using You Tube for our videos now because Google is going to stop the video uploading capability... please let me know if you have trouble viewing the videos from now on.  Thanks!

It has been a busy week!  We went to lunch at O'Connell's Pub on the 17th with Dad, Mary, Dawn, and Allison for Dawn's birthday.  We love fun lunch dates!  Here are a couple pictures, but Dad was able to get better ones.

Tonight I stripped Mia down since I threw her laundry in the washer, and she was being cute playing with her toes.  Maizy came over to hang out with her, as usual.  Maizy is so good with her, and as you'll see in the video, sometimes TOO good!  She is very affectionate!

Can you believe Mia is 6 months old already?  Mia will always celebrate her 1/2 birthdays on Dawn's birthday.  :)  Doesn't Mia look like a little leprechan in the second photo?  And in the video, notice who is on the baby blanket... Mia never stays on it, and the dogs take advantage of the opportu

Yesterday Mia and I drove around looking for pansies to plant because it was so pretty out.  We finally found some at a local nursery and had them planted in a hurry.  I had a few minutes yesterday evening and wanted to take Mia's picture with them... and as you can see, Mia was quite interested.  Within five seconds, Mia had one uprooted!

Later that evening Keith and I took Mia to the doctor because I had a feeling something was wrong... turns out she has her first ear infection.  We hope it's her first and only!

Today my friend Tracie treated us to The Butterfly House!  (I'd like to look into getting a membership, too!)  It was amazing, as there were about 100 times more butterflies out than I've ever seen before!  If anyone is interested in going, March is supposed to be the peak month to visit.  And be sure to wear red and colorful clothing!  I wasn't sure how interested Mia would be, but she really did watch the butterflies flying around her.  It helped that some of them were bigger than the palm of my hand!  Speaking of hands, one particular butterfly encountered a tragic ending in Mia's hand.  The waterfall caught Mia's attention, too.  I took a bunch of pictures, but it's difficult to see the butterflies flying around.  I'm so glad that Tracie invited us and look forward to future fun outings!

Time is flying!  Mia is really enjoying her cereal (I can hardly get it to her fast enough!) and moving around much more.  We're expecting a tooth or two anytime now... note the slobber on her jacket.  She also smiles much more readily than before!  She made the cashiers at Dierbergs really giggle today!  It's tricky getting her to smile when she sees the camera out, though.  She loves to watch the dogs and both dogs are often very close by.  She loves to pet them and they don't flinch even when their fur gets caught in her tight fists.  Mia is really curious about just about anything.  I can't wait for some warmer weather so we can enjoy the great outdoors!

A Rolling Pro! 02/06/2009

Well, at least in one direction!  I must have taken 5 or 6 recordings because I kept praising Mia... and it gets really annoying hearing my voice on the video.  :)  She has rolled from her back to belly a couple of times, too.  It really helps when Maizy is lying near Mia because she just loves petting Maizy.  Forget toys... moving and barking animals are so much more interesting!

Rollin' & Eatin' 01/26/2009

Last Friday Mia rolled over twice!  Of course, we didn't get the real thing on camera just yet.  And she hasn't done it again, either.  The following morning we tried to give Mia cereal for the first time.  I assumed she'd gobble it right up, but not quite.   Since Saturday I've mixed the cereal thicker and she's taking most of it.  Her Bumbo seat is the perfect place to feed her, but she doesn't seem to think so.  It won't be much longer, though, and she won't be able to fit in her Bumbo seat anymore!  Did you see those thighs in the pictures below??  So the videos here don't really show great rollin' and eatin', but they're cute anyhow.  You'll be able to hear her newest talent:  raspberries!  She spits all day long as she talks and talks.  She's been working her tongue into making some talking sounds, too... it's been fun to listen to her talking change.  Last week she talked to herself from our house all the way to Chesterfield!  I've learned to let her go, because sometimes if I join in her conversation she stops.  I'll be sure to update her milestones as we get them on video!

Yesterday Mia had her 4 month checkup and received more of her vaccines.  The 0.6 mL of Tylenol she got before the shots didn't nearly take 'the edge' off like it's supposed to... considering her new dose is 1.4 mL!  Our little girl is 26 inches and 18 pounds now!  Only 2 pounds to go and she'll graduate from her infant seat into her 'big girl' carseat!  I'll miss having the infant seat wherever we go because it's nice for her to sit and sleep in.  However, it's getting very heavy lifting her into the van!  I also asked our pediatrician about Mia rolling over... she isn't quite able to make it over yet.  The doctor just laughed and said that bigger babies have trouble getting over as early as smaller babies do.  I wasn't worried about it, but the topic came up while I was filling out the developmental paperwork.  Thankfully, Mia is in perfect health!

Anyone else going stircrazy?  My grandparents are in Arizona visiting family and friends and I'm stuck here, playing with the same old toys all day everyday.  My grandpa just called and said that he's sitting by the pool and getting ready to get in, and I just finished sitting by the kitchen sink while Mom washed bottles... doesn't quite compare.  I'm ready for some warmer weather so Mom and I can go outside for a walk (Mom says she's ready, too!).  I knew I should have snuck into my Mom Mom's suitcase!
